Review of The Fall (2006) by Chism R — 02 May 2012
Alright, before I write up this review, I should wipe away the drool coming down my lips that began flowing like river rapids while watching this film. Why do I say this? Well... it's... gorgeous, so far, it is THE most beautiful thing put to celluloid.
Tarsem knew what he was doing as director, and the whole film pops. Everything looks like a lot of thought and time was put into it. The Fall does something I would think unimaginable, and that's do an entire film with NO digital effects, and all the sets and whatnot are real things in this world, and Tarsem wanted to preserve their beauty in film, and oh how he does that with flying colors.
The story though, well, stories I must say, are really different in style. There is the main plot about a young girl and an actor telling her a story, which is very dramatic, nuance, believable, and touching, whereas the other big story, the one with all the gorgeous photography, is simple, and pretty believable, but during that time, you don't care since Tarsem is making sweet, sweet love to your corneas.
Also, the acting is fine, and the child actor is really, really good, I've gotta say. For me, this is in the list of movies everyone should see before they die. Seriously, just trust me on this. Let me put it this way, I cried, and was lovestruck by the film at the same time.
