Review of The Factory (2012) by Kevin W — 15 Jun 2013
Initially torn because I love Cusack movies (usually), but dislike the Dexter-ruiner, The Factory turned out to be a pretty good, albeit somewhat predictable, movie. Some questions:
*spoilers*.
1) Less than 1/2 hour in, it's noted that Cusack's partner can't have kids. Isn't this a HUGE giveaway about events to come? This revelation should have come much later.
2) After reading how Cusack behaves in interviews and his distain for his early career films, why is he cranking out such a string of boilerplate, straight-to-Netflix, forgettable movies? I'd watch One Crazy Summer, Better Off Dead, and the Sure Thing over and over rather than The Raven, Numbers Station, and the Factory.
3) Again, another note to Mr. Cusack from a once loyal fan: bring back the fun! I want the guy from Hot Tub Time Machine back!
