Review of The Exterminator (1980) by Sandy R — 27 Nov 2011
Largely derided by critics and the majority of the public at the time, this low budget 80's vigilante flick still packs a punch. It's sleazy, gory and violent in the exploitation tradition, The Exterminator is an engaging, if flawed revenge flick.
The ending in particular is too abrupt and feels rushed but the film's incredible Stan Winston-handled decapitation in the Vietnam prologue is totally unforgettable and amongst the best special effects I've ever seen.
A great companion piece to Rolling Thunder and Death Wish.
