Review of The Exploding Girl (2010) by Tom B — 05 Apr 2010
Zoe Kazan carries this film with a star-making performance as a college student quietly falling apart during spring break. She appears in almost every frame of the movie, and the subtlety of her performance would be impossible for most actors twice her age.
The film itself is dragged down by a lack of story and the sometimes grating mumblecore-esque dialogue (most certainly semi-improvised), but when Kazan is carrying bigger movies in years to come, this will stand as the turning point in her career.
