Review of The Exploding Girl (2010) by Jarred L — 22 Mar 2011
I have kept an eye out for this film for over two years now, and now that I have watched it, I must admit that I am a bit disappointed. There was nothing wrong with it technically (the acting was decent, and the cinematography was wonderful), it's just that it was a little bit too slow, a little bit too awkward, and never really amounts to much.
Many "indie" dramas like to use lots of little conflicts to keep the story moving, but "The Exploding Girl" just seems to drift lazily onto the screen and then, after about an hour and fifteen minutes, recedes back to nothingness.
