Review of The Experiment (2010) by Nick G — 10 Sep 2010
This is basically a modern American remake of the German film, "Das Experiment" which was based on Zimbardo's infamous prison study at Stanford almost 40 years ago. The problem I had with this film was that for anyone who knows anything about the Zimbardo experiment, this film is pretty inaccurate.
Paul Scheuring (creator of "Prison Break") did a great job directing but unfortunately, the lack of story had to be carried by Forest Whitaker and Adrien Brody's spectacular performances.
I would not be surprised if they received nominations for this film. It's a decent ensemble drama about how humans can be conditioned to behave in primal ways, but for the most part, it's a case of remaking a foreign film gone wrong.
