Review of The Experiment (2010) by Kim K — 15 Nov 2011
This movie explores that which was based off of a real experiment conducted in the '60s. Since the dawn of mankind we have been a violent speices. No matter what your beliefs are... pushed to a point man will strike man.
The truth of this film, I believe, is that as a species, we have yet to learn how to live in a non-violent way because violence has been a part of who we have always been. Before TV, Internet and Modern Warefare you had Custer's last stand, gladiators, civil wars all across the globe.
Great storytelling of how; when subjected to a different environment, the human psyche can go to places beyond regular recognition. Being a fan of psychological thrillers this film did not disappoint.
Adrien Brody is without doubt on his way to become a memorable actor, Forest Whitalker's character was intense. Clifton Collins Jr. is always welcome in a movie as far as I'm concered. And although it was a bit part it's great to see Fisher Stevens.
Maggie Grace is always beautiful but her character was pointless and really didn't add anything to this at all. Overall this film is unique in its nature, gripping and moving scenes as bit by bit the animal awakens in morality's peace loving face.
