Review of The Expendables (2000) by Garda D — 12 Apr 2014
I don't have any hate towards mainstream movie, but this is one bad mainstream action movie.
Mostly in many action movies there were many memorable quotes such as Die Hard with "Yippee-Ki-Yay, motherfucker!" or anything. Guess what memorable quotes this movie have? None! It tries to bring the 80's action movie with blood and explosives but where's the memorable quotes?
Now when there's Bruce Willis, Stallone and Arnold in the same room what do you expect? A badass conversation right? While this shows a boring one and Willis along with Arnold only get to be shown in that scene only. The whole cast acting was bad, the character they play are even worse. There were no relationship or backstory of any of them, nothing are interesting in the point of character or even the story itself which is dull and boring.
The whole special effects are really bad, for instance: the fire, blood and mostly everything. Some of the CGI looks really clear also, and what makes it worse is that the editing was so bad.
With great cast, I expect more from them. They wanted to bring back the old school action sure, but even the 80's action movie has better special effects than this movie, the second was no better but it improved a bit.
