Review of The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005) by Richard R — 10 Dec 2013
This half court room drama, half possession horror keeps the balance between the legal shenanigans and the graphic horror right on the mark. The relatively unknown Jennifer Carpenter plays the troubled Emily with great realism - every awkward neck angle and her terror filled eyes are perfect here.
The court room scenes are credible and interesting as we follow the case of a priest accused of Negligent Homicide after a failed exorcism. In a genre full to saturation point with a LOT of average horror films - Emily Rose has done more than enough to make it stand out from the crowd.
The best exorcism film since The Exorcist.
