Review of The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005) by Shaun W — 25 Jul 2014
THIS MOVIE IS NOT THE EXORCIST.
Just thought I'd say that, it annoys me that people compare these two great movies.
The use of court room drama mixing with horror in this movie is done really very well, in such a way that if you're a courtroom drama fan you'll like this movie and if you're a horror fan you'll like this movie, I personally love both so safe to say I really enjoyed this film.
Although it is very loosely based on a true story I really liked this movie for a few reasons.
1) It's original take on the exorcism genre (if that's a thing) Adding more realism to it.
2) The acting performances were great especially in the court room, and Jennifer Carpenter who plays Emily does a great job as some actors/actresses can butcher the possessed role in movie, but here it is not the case.
3) the use of flashbacks and different takes on the events which in turn lead you to think which you'd like to believe.
This movie had me interested start to finish I highly recommend it.
