Review of The Evil Dead (1981) by Joe A — 18 Oct 2012
Another of what I consider to be one of the greatest horrors ever made. Evil Dead is one of the original cabin in the woods horror flicks and director Sam Raimi's first film. This classic has five people going to a remote cabin and upon discovering the 'book of the dead', unleashing ancient demonic spirits that plan to possess them one by one and devour their souls.
The only way to stop the possessed dead is complete bodily dismemberment! A raw, relentless and gory as hell rollercoaster ride that never slows down in it's take-no-prisoners portrayal of possession and survival against an ancient evil.
A wildly inventive horror with some stunning gore and nightmarish visuals! People seem to prefer the jokier sequels but, for me the original is one of the all time greats. A must Halloween watch and one of my all time favorites!
