Review of The Evil Dead (1981) by Nickkan — 09 Apr 2023
One of the best splatters of all time. While the acting is cheap at times and some of the effects are cheap too, for the budget the film has some pretty good practical effects.
The chemistry between the actors is good and the film is atmospheric.
The brutality is also impressive, even if a few scenes are unintentionally funny.
This film created a new genre and I respect it for that.
While I like the movie, it's not what I love about Evil Dead.
Ash is not yet the Ash we love so much.
