Review of The Evil Dead (1981) by Kelsey M — 16 May 2015
Although it has an unfocused narrative speed that shifts between too slow and too fast, and it's lacking somewhat in terms of acting ability from the main cast (although Bruce Campbell gives an OK first role), a mixture of grimy art direction, suspenseful yet darkly humourous scares and a whole load of gory makeup effects help make Sam Raimi's directorial debut The Evil Dead a generally enjoyable entry in the genre of 'body horror'.
