Review of The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain (1995) by Daniel H — 24 Sep 2010
While Hugh Grant is charming in this film, it's the Welsh locals played by Tara Fitzgerald, Ian Hart as a shellshocked soldier, and Colm Meaney, who steals the film as the pubman, Morgan the Goat, who give colour to this wonderful film.
The sense of wounded pride the Welsh feel, especially during the First World War, and the cultural differences between the Welsh and British, the latter who who look down on the former, are felt here.
One of my favourite films that I don't mind watching over and over.
