Review of The English Patient (1996) by Edgar C — 18 May 2010
Overrated with a funny reaction by the Academy Awards, this Minghella WWII project tries to re-take the style of A Passage to India and Gandhi, but it came off very sour. A film that leaves you hungry (a movie that had potential to be great but wasn't ellaborated well enough) always remains as a wasted opportunity. Fine performances but if you want a more accurate version of a similar story (longing for the past, war nostalgia, a lost love), watch La Chambre des Officiers. Technical highlights (like the photography, in this case) are not supposed to rescue quality.
62/100.
