A good film; it's easy to see how it comes away with best picture. All of the elements are there: brilliant actors, sweeping landscapes, war, tragedy, etc. While good enough to nab an Oscar, and even though I did enjoy it, I don't see that it will go down as one of the best movies ever made.
The story in itself is a bit weak, but the actors are able to turn this thin plot into something compelling to watch, even if you are left a little unfulfilled at the end.
