Review of The End of the Tour (2015) by Kelvin W — 15 Aug 2015
It's always interesting listening to philosophical musings about life, especially coming from writers. After all, every word has a purpose that ends up filling an imaginary script, unbeknownst to the conversationalists.
The subject, David Foster Wallace, is a genius, but more importantly, he is human. The way he deconstructs everything, from loneliness to fame, is either revelatory or timely to the viewer. Segel disappears passionately into his role. One layer back, and we witness his unlikely male friendship with Eisenberg's character that crescendos. Think "I Love You, Man" except more complicated.
Thank god for the artists in this world. The tour may have ended, but somewhere out there Freud is applauding and salivating like a madman.
