Review of The End of the Tour (2015) by Joey T — 21 Aug 2015
This movie, at its core, is about being human: What worries us, what makes us happy, what makes us lonely among other subjects or their conversation. The characters on the screen were all very real and I could relate to any of them, from the leads to the star-struck girls to the guy having his book signed.
The fact that the film is characterizing real people adds an element of interest but the story stands on its own, fiction or non-fiction. I'm a fan of Jason Segel and always find him relate-able but because he is an actor with a very big personality, it took me a few minutes to get into the character rather than watching Jason Segel.
I'm a fan of Jesse Eisenberg, too, and this role certainly suits him. However, this was a journey for his character, too, and I found him emotionally distant in exactly the same way as other films.
I wanted more from that character. I very much liked the film and recommend it to those who enjoy films that allow you to get to know the characters and are not afraid of discussions about what it means to be human.
