Review of The End of the Affair (1999) by Sheila R — 06 Mar 2008
A visually poetic masterpiece, I'm still kind of amazed that I kind of "got it" from the off aged 19 with next to no experience in relationships 9 years ago, 'cos it's definitely a movie that requires multiple viewings .
.. now, I see even more in it, and the God strand of the plot lifts it to the heavens, it's just truly transcendent. I don't understand the thing about the sex scenes, every time I get the DVD off the shelf I'm like, "really, an 18? why?" and I still don't see the fuss, is a guy's butt that offensive? 'cos that's all I see here that's any different from other sexy movies lol and even Brokeback got a 15.
Michael Nyman's score is simply heartwrenching, how has this guy never been even nominated for an Oscar?!
