This was indeed a sad story, yet hopeful, making it even more enjoyable. It's amazing to see something unique in even the most horrifying man. Joseph (John) Merrick was truly indeed a horrifying sight to most; yet knowing that there were some people who cared for him and befriended him really makes this film all the better.
