Review of The Elephant Man (1980) by Ollie W — 30 Nov 2011
Such a beautiful, surreal adaptation of the astonishing true story, shot in lavish Black and White by the masterful Freddie Francis and directed superbly by David Lynch. Hurt's performance is utterly heart-breaking and Hopkins is flawless, while Eric Bergren's script is perfectly written, balancing the absurd with the terrifying, in this tragic tale of humanity perfectly.
