I've not read the book either and to be honest I didn't eveen know it was a french novel. but come to think of it i'm not surprised at all: french have a very distinctabe fancy for disgusting things (some parts in the movie are indeed a bit obscene).

So just rating the movie as it is without the background info I dare say it was very good.the plot is surreal but provoking and the cast is just fantastic.really impressive.
