Review of The Element of Crime (1984) by Steve W — 03 Oct 2011
Lars Von Trier's debut is a stylish and noir inspired world of crime and dystopia. The shades of blue and sepia get a little annoying, but the dialogue and creepy atmosphere is engaging. I had to read up to find out the theories, as the film's story is left up to interpretation.
A solid watch, but perhaps too open for my taste as I was looking forward to the face off between cop and killer.
