Review of The Eiger Sanction (1975) by Asa B — 21 Jan 2008
A lesser Eastwood movie during his most productive years that has some of the best one liners of any of his films. The film was trying to compete with the Bond series spy enterprise, but it deviates from the 'Bond' formula almost entirely.
Instead of making the hero spy into a God, Eastwood depicts the reluctant Hemlock as someone who understands the futility of the spy game as "killing people until somebody kills you." Good acting, and a suprisingly moralistic movie.
