Review of The Edukators (2004) by Julian D — 31 Jan 2008
For anyone following contemporary German cinema, this movie is probably a must-see for the acting of Daniel Bruehl ("Goodbye, Lenin") and Julia Jentsch ("The Last Days of Sophie Scholl") who are terrific.
The movie also provides a rare glimpse into the philosophical theory of young 20-somethings trying to change the world with some unorthodox ideas. Quite suspenseful in the middle, the movie has a number of twists and turns that make it worth watching despite the 2-hour length.
The movie is dialogue-heavy, but the subtitles are well-done. Terrific contrast between Berlin and southern German mountain settings.
