I challenge everyone to be as active in their convictions as Shelby Knox, a high schooler. In Lubbock, TX, her hometown, teen pregnancy rates and STD cases are among the highest in the country. The ONLY sex ed taught in their schools is abstinence.
The community is staunchly conservative and very Christian. That shouldn't make them stupid to boot, but...teaching abstinence only is very stupid. The most touching moment was when her father, who had chastised her for her activism, said he listened to what Shelby was saying and realized she was right.
Activism works and Shelby's story is the perfect example.
