Review of The Edge of Love (2008) by Alan W — 28 Jun 2008
Based on the liaisons of bohemian poet and all-round jerk Dylan Thomas, the film's superb lighting and photography are unfortunately not enough to rescue it from its atrociously dross script. The two halves of the film almost seem as if they were directed by two different people.
Poorly paced, the film wouldn't suffer a whole lot if it were trimmed by a good 40-minute or so.The story develops clumsily and by the time the climax arrives, the film has already expended much of its steam.
Keira Knightley is often derided for the single expression that she wears in all her films. She has clearly improved, now she's got two.
