Review of The Edge of Love (2008) by Ceph J — 05 Aug 2009
This brilliantly shot film takes a step back and delves into the psyche of the women affected by World War II, and the men in their lives. It deals heavily with the ideas of what true love is and what binds and keeps it.
The cast here is the real highlight; Keirah Knightly is, as ever, gorgeous and shines as a likable, heroine, and Sierre Miller brings a lackadaisical yet sympathetic edge to her character. Cillian Murphey rounds out the cast with his emotional weight and character.
This was an emotionally poignant film, playing in real realms and tied together by Dylan Thomas' haunting poetry, and while I don't foresee myself watching it again- at least not in the near future- I am very glad that I did.
