Review of The Edge (1997) by Joey M — 19 Oct 2007
This is an excellent film and very under rated. Don't be fooled by people who would say this is about surviving in the wilderness because it is something completely different. Sure, the setting is in Alaska and the characters have been stranded, but that has nothing to do with what is really going on. This is more of a drama than an action/adventure flick. The symbolism and metaphors are incredibly powerful and this is all worked in beautifully with the photography and the musical score. All of the actors are wonderful. There is so much to this movie and it is impossible to take it all in the first time you watch it. Every time you see it something else that is seemingly irrelevant pops into focus and aligns with the story. There is much more to this than the action.
Be careful when watching this because that is all the average idiot would see.
Incredible movie.
