Review of The Edge (1997) by Jiana W — 19 Apr 2012
The Edge's fusion of Mametspeak with a true life adventure remains brawny entertainment, even it it is difficult to take as seriously as the filmmakers intend. The Edge succeeds ably in blending his famously acerbic dialogue with nerve-racking adventure scenes.
Anthony Hopkins is brillaint and Alec Baldwin just as good. The film is also about human sacrifice and boiled tension and slight madness but most importently, survival. Not much in action scenes, but the great acting and beautiful scenes are well worth a look and a bad bear on the prowl.
Good suspenceful film that will put you on edge.
