Review of The Edge (1997) by Simon G — 05 Aug 2012
A solid survival adventure in which Anthony Hopkins' billionaire, Charles Morse, finds himself stranded in the Alaskan wilderness with his photographer friend, Bob (Alec Baldwin), along with Bob's assistant after a plane crash.
No one knows exactly where they are and to make matters worse they are stalked by a man eating Kodiak bear, as tensions arise between Morse and Bob. The scenery is beautifully shot by Donald M. McAlpine and director Lee Tamahori (Along Came a Spider) does add some suspense but ultimately the film falls short of the confrontation we're promised due to screenwriter David Mamet's rather anti-climatic finale.
