Review of The Eagle Huntress (2016) by Bonni Q — 22 Oct 2016
What a stunning and surprising documentary of a young girls' journey in an arena reserved for men for centuries; eagle hunting. Otto Bell has given us a masterful close up glimpse of a nomadic Mongolian people who subsist on so little yet have an appreciation for the environment and the cycle of life. Aisholpan is a rare 13 year old girl with strength and courage usually attributed to young men in a culture that believes a woman should be home milking the cows and making kurds. Her father is her teacher and support, a beautiful and rare relationship shown throughout the film.
So many teaching points in this film that it should be shown in schools.
