Review of The Dukes of Hazzard (2005) by Patrick E — 27 Jun 2010
Director Jay Chandrasekhar has created a fun big screen update of the classic 80's TV show "The Dukes of Hazzard". The jokes never let up throughout, and although the film is quite silly and contains mostly slap stick humour, the excellent cast of comedy actors ensures that it never becomes too silly.
The plot is nothing new, wealthy business man tries to run the inhabitants of Hazzard out of their home so he can mine the vast quantities of coal that exists under the town and it's up to the Duke family to save the day. The pace of the film never lets up; there is always something comedic happening on screen meaning the running time zips along. There are plenty of car chases which are all excellently done and although the plot is predictable it's still strong enough to carry the comedy elements.
I have never seen the original TV show but this big screen adaptation is a fun watch and well worth your time.
