Review of The DUFF (2015) by Zack E — 21 Feb 2015
Part Mean Girls, part She's All That, The DUFF doesn't break much ground in the high school comedy genre, but it's a good time nonetheless. Mae Whitman is fantastic as the lead, though I refuse to believe that anyone would find her unattractive.
However, the rest of the cast is somewhat flat and underdeveloped. For what it is though, The DUFF is a fun time. I don't think it will be dethroning Mean Girls or any of John Hughes' work as the pinnacle of high school comedies, but there's nothing wrong with that.
Every few high school classes deserves the comedy that acts as the time capsule for their experiences. The DUFF is a more than capable entry into that for the current high school population.
