Review of The DUFF (2015) by Jason S — 21 Feb 2015
Pretty entertaining. great performance by Mae Whitman, and Robbie Amell brought more heart than you'd expect, playing the first I'm more than stereotypical jock that is actually more than a stereotypical jock.
Overall, the story isn't groundbreaking, but The DUFF wins at updating the Mean Girls framework to the hashtag era. Most importantly, there is a message in this movie, and despite woeful lack of supporting character development, this message rings clear and it's a good one.
