Review of The DUFF (2015) by Kyle B — 31 Dec 2015
When it gets started, it is a bit of a chore with its ridiculous groundwork for a plot regarding someone like Mae Whitman as the fat ugly friend which she is far from being but once it gets rolling its charm starts to come out.
Whitman gives a really great performance and I hope to see her in more comedies. Robbie Amell was very charming as well and I think he is a leading man in the works with some great comedic timing. Allison Janney can never do wrong even in a small role as Whitman's mom but every scene she is in she steals.
All the young supporting players are all really great and I see great careers coming out of them even Bella Throne that I had reservations with after some pretty mediocre roles on the MTV series Scream.
Some have said it is this generation's Mean Girls, no it isn't that great, but this is a cute solid high school comedy that really pays off in the end.
