Review of The DUFF (2015) by Mollie M — 26 Sep 2015
And here I thought everything had been done to the romantic teen comedy. "The DUFF" manages to poke immense fun at itself while making the romance between Mae Whitman's Bianca and Robbie Amell's Wesley seem genuine and fun.
It is predictable, but this film succeeds in making the viewer (or at least this one) forget that. Whitman is immense fun to watch, as are her interactions with Ken Jeong. The body positive message of the film is something any member of my generation can support, so in that one way, it manages to lift itself above other teen classics, like "American Pie" or "Not Another Teen Movie.
