Review of The Duellists (1977) by Daniel C — 26 Feb 2010
The photography (from an atmospheric perspective) is definitely one of the stars of this film. Every scene looks like a Vermeer. Keitel's depiction of the psychotic soldier, determined to vanquish any perceived enemy, provides the film with an unsettling menace.
Carradine is less compelling. I definitely felt transported to that Napoleonic world.
