Review of The Duellists (1977) by Stella D — 07 Nov 2009
It was nice to see this film as it was Ridley Scott's first movie. I'm not a fan of his really aside from three great films, which are Blade Runner, Alien, & Kingdom Of Heaven, but I decided to watch this one becasue the story interesed me as it was based on a story by Joseph Conrad, who I'm a big fan of.
It reminded me a lot of Stanley Kubrick's Barry Lyndon. Especially in terms of the way it looked. In the end, I've never liked Keith Carradine and as he's the star of it, I had to put up with him.
Well, this is still better than anything Ridley Scott did in the 1990s.
