Review of The Drownsman (2014) by Quincy T — 25 Apr 2015
Here we have an '80s throwback slasher flick where instead of teens being afraid of dreaming (a la "A Nightmare on Elm Street"), these gal pals are terrified of water and anything that might hold it (a bathtub, bottle, sink or washing machine) because the slimy ghost of a serial killer will try to drown them.
What is supposed to be hyrdrophobic hell becomes kind of a giggle as bad millennial actresses get scared when someone drinks from a water bottle in an elevator or it starts to rain. If you love '80s horror and think a protracted version of that bathtub scene in "A Nightmare on Elm Street" sounds like a great idea, take a big swig of this soggy aqua-bogeyman flick.
