Review of The Driller Killer (1979) by The Doctor John Kent — 29 Oct 2008
Very violent. Based on reputation, I was unsure what to think - would it be a barely watchable stomach-churner like Last House on the Left? A playful slasher like Friday the 13th 2?
It turns out to be the horror equivalent of Falling Down.
Outside of the actual murdering, the protagonist reminded me of many people I know - someone who is just going through life, looking for their true purpose. Probably not the original intention, but it worked well for me. Lots of non-actors in this movie, very primitive editing style - also works as a time-capsule. See the New York of Legend!
