Review of The Driller Killer (1979) by Jon C — 30 Oct 2017
A horror film that's more gory than scary but does show a struggling artist's descent into madness.
Trying to make a good canvas while also making meets end is tough enough but for Reno he's doing his best.
Although considering how he was raised and doesn't take criticism lightly he goes over the edge.
His mind starts playing tricks on him forcing him to pick up a power drill slaying homeless people on the street.
Not only that but he starts going after all those who wronged him from his gf to an art critic to an old flame of his gf.
It's hard to like anybody here considering how much they bicker at one another but there's blood a plenty to distract from that.
And this was the late 70's so it does feel like proper exploitation.
The portrayal of the NY punk rockees is nailed down very well to say the least.
Nobody likes it when their art isn't appreciated, poor Reno falls ill to many of his failures turning him into the driller killer.
