Review of The Dressmaker (2015) by Daeyoung H — 15 Sep 2018
That one star is deserved only because of the acting, especially Judy Davis, who gives a tour-de-force performance. Thoroughly depressing, bleak, uninspiring, and you don't care about any of the characters, except for the needlessly ill-fated Teddy.
Maybe this all serves to illustrate the bleakness that can be small town living, with its suspicions, pettiness, and scandals. But again, in this case, I didn't care.
