Review of The Drawn Together Movie: The Movie! (2010) by Thomas S — 20 Apr 2010
First off I have to say that this movie is definitely not for everyone. This is exactly what one would come to expect from the most crude, offensive, racist, morally corrupted and sexually perverted animated TV show turned movie; and anyone who is offended by seeing any of the previously mentioned things should avoid The Drawn Together Movie like the plague. For anybody else (especially anyone who is a fan of the original TV show), I would give it a high recommendation.
The story picks up nicely where the TV show left off. The housemates realize that their show has been canceled by the network and that they've been living since the end of season 3 without an audience. So naturally the various indignant cartoon characters want to get their show back on the air, but to do this they need to travel to Get A Point land where all modern shows with offensive content go to gain mainstream approval by weaving preachy messages throughout their vulgar presentation.
The Drawn Together Movie isn't going to win any awards. In fact it may be the single most twisted and disgusting video presentations since the infamous "two girls and one cup" internet video, but by being just as shallow and offensive as it always has been, it actually rises above shows like South Park (don't get me wrong I love South Park) by not needing to justify it's existence with disguised messages, which the film stops to blatantly point out towards the end.
The Drawn Together Movie is NOT a family movie. But for it's target audience, it's a pretty good one.
