Review of The Drawn Together Movie: The Movie! (2010) by Mitch W — 24 Sep 2010
Crude, low brow, and yet terribly funny, the Drawn Together cast reunite to bring a conclusion to their series which ran on Comedy Central for three seasons, and was then cancelled. Except no one ever told the characters they were cancelled. So begins a meta-struggle for existentialism as they realize they can now do many of the things they couldn't before (like curse, have blatant nudity, and portray even more low brow humor) and seek to get their show renewed.
As a long time fan of the series, I found the film suited its need to conclude the show in the only way it knew how- by taking all the other cartoons down with it. It maintained the flow and feel of the original series, although some scenes were downright annoying. It particularly went after South Park and its ideology, which comes off more as "preaching to the choir" but it almost has a point.
I enjoyed the bonus material that came with the film. It was definitely worth watching as a fan of the show.
