Review of The Double (2014) by Tyler R — 03 Dec 2014
The Double stars Jesse Eisenberg as Simon he's a timid and very isolated man who is sort of overlooked by every one. At his job his co workers barely know he exists including his boss played by Wallace Shawn.
He's scorned by his mother and the girl of his dreams ignores him and she's played by Mia Wasikowska. So he's sort of sleepwalking through his life when one day he shows up at work and there's a new employee who is an exact double of Simon.
So at first James takes Simon under his wing and helps him talk to the girl he likes and helps him at work. But then he starts taking over Simon's life to the point that Simon is becoming non existent at work.
So The Double is a really engaging dark comedy that kept me engaged always. Jesse Eisenberg is really good in this movie playing two character that couldn't be more different from one another and does a great job.
Also the comedy in the movie is very subdued but I still find this movie to be really funny in spots. But this is still a very dark existential movie that I thought really worked.
