Review of The Double (2014) by Austin O — 19 Jan 2015
A look at the man you want to be. Although very dark, this movie translates the good and the bad of being somebody your not. Jesse Eisenburg's performance was one of sheer importance and substance.
This movie follows the story of the awkward Simon James and an outgoing and not-so-awkward identical man named James Simon who tries to take away everything important in Simon's life. This movie definitely had some great character development and experimented with the human emotion.
The cinematography, while grim, created suspense which added several dimensions to the film. The set design and costume design also helped to create an ominous feel to this film. While the comedy and drama were good, I think this movie's main focus needed to be pointed more toward being a thriller and not a drama/romamce.
