Review of The Doors (1991) by Liam E — 04 May 2008
This film is weird and wonderful. It has docu-drama feel to it and yet we do not know how true to his life this film is. But we don't need to know because this film seems to capture a vision of Jim Morrison's mind, it seems to be an insight into his world rather than a biography of his life.
Val Kilmer was absolutely amazing, he was flawless and so were the entire cast, Meg Ryan was great in this film. In my opinion the direction was superb but this isn't a film for the faint of heart.
It is quite long and it is by no means straight forward. There is a lot of poetic license in this film, real life events intermingled with fantasy sequences. In my opinion this is a great film that I truly enjoyed.
