Review of The Doors (1991) by Mike H — 31 Jul 2010
You know that it would be untrue, you know that I would be a liar, if I were to say to you, Oliver Stone is a good movie-maker.
Okay, he's okay. But 2+ hours of mythologized history of mediocre people, coupled with a few terrible happenstance allusions (making fun of the way Dylan sings, that awful actress they got to play Nico, Crispin Glover's appearance as Andy Warhol) and ultimately you spend more time waiting for it to end than you do enjoying it.
This is Val Kilmer's best performance, and if it can be said that anything saves this movie, it's that.
