Review of The Doors (1991) by Brady C — 17 Feb 2012
It seems logical that if you are going to tell a story, that's because you think it's a good story. It doesn't matter whether it's sad or beautiful, the point is that, for some reason, you think that's something worth telling people about.
If that's so, however, why then did Oliver Stone decide to make a movie about The Doors when he knew the story of the band totally sucks? Jim Morrison itself is a lousy main character. He barely acts like a human throughout the film.
He doesn't have doubts nor inner conflicts - he's almost always absolutely alien to the rest of the world, immersed in an endless trance. There's no need for a mostly lysergic movie over 2 hours long to depict such an annoying story.
A documentary would do just fine.
